About W+A’s TDM + Mobility Management Team
The TDM + Mobility Management at Wells + Associates empowers our partners to create connected communities and enjoyable experiences. We deliver creative, human-centered solutions to transportation issues faced by the real estate community, leveraging behavioral science, data insights, storytelling, emerging technology, and trends. Our team comprises seven experienced staff members, each with expertise in project management, marketing, communications, event planning, data analysis, TDM, business development, and client engagement. We manage an active portfolio of 100+ clients, which includes commercial real estate developers, property managers, educational institutions, large employers, and local and federal government agencies. Position Summary
The Research and Data Analyst is a vital member of the TDM + Mobility Management team. The primary function of this role is to support W+A’s TDM + Mobility Management project portfolio with data collection, organization, analysis, visualization, and research which is used to develop or adjust strategies implemented to shift travel behavior and assist residents and employees across multifamily communities, commercial properties, mixed-use developments, educational institutions, and other clients in forming sustainable transportation habits that reduce vehicle trips. This role will work closely with project managers, coordinators, engineers, consultants, and leadership to understand project goals and data, collect and analyze data, conduct research, and prepare documentation and visuals regarding results.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare commute surveys: develop, review, or revise questionnaires, apply relevant logic, conduct survey testing, coordinate with project managers, and client
- Support analysis of commute surveys, organizing data, preparing related charts and visualizations
- Draft reports, memorandums, and other formal communications as necessary to deliver results of research and analysis
- Coordinate traffic monitoring with the engineering team
- Deliver the results of traffic monitoring received from engineers to project managers
- Support the preparation of annual reports
- Upload survey results into the database for use by project managers
- Support dashboard development and/or maintenance, including pulling, organizing, and uploading data
- Determine and collect data needs for a project, developing and delivering data request forms to clients, and following up regarding missing information
- Identify new data collection opportunities
- Provide support for data-informed storytelling and communications efforts, such as client reporting, infographics, or corporate marketing initiatives
- Execute project tasks related to research and data, as directed, and coordinate with project managers, ensuring quality and timely delivery
- Conduct background research to support project planning, which may include review of existing conditions using available data, research regarding existing or future transportation conditions, or other research
- Correspond with clients in-person, virtually, and over email to support data and research or present relevant findings
- Deliver project needs on time and prioritize tasks effectively

Experience
- 1-3 years of experience in research, planning, and data collection or analysis
- Interest in and/or experience with executing surveys, including developing questionnaires and analyzing results
- Demonstrated ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects with competing deadlines, and previous consulting or customer service experience
- Analytical thinker – able to break down problems into manageable parts and use data to guide insights and action
- Collaborative and adaptive – works well with cross-functional teams and embraces feedback, ambiguity, and evolving or iterative solutions
- Client-centered – focused on understanding client or stakeholder goals, challenges, and priorities to deliver the right solutions
- Proactive and resourceful – anticipates needs or challenges in advance with options for potential solutions and able to take initiative
Advanced Skills
- Work experience with comprehensive survey analysis and providing recommendations and insights
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools, such as R, Tableau, and GIS applications
- Experience with transportation demand management and human travel behavior from a planning or implementation perspective
- Understanding of trip generation and/or TDM-specific models, such as TRIMMS
- Proven experience utilizing data and corresponding narrative and visualizations to communicate insights resulting in actionable change
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time while operating standard office equipment (e.g. computer and keyboard)
- Must be able to lift and move up to ten (10) pounds on occasion
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, up to four hours, on occasion
- Must be able to travel between client sites as necessary for meetings or data collection

Location
This position will be housed at Wells + Associates headquarters in Tysons, VA with occasional travel to client sites and occasional travel to other W+A offices. The TDM team is currently operating under a hybrid work schedule, which requires staff to be in the office 2-3 days per week for collaborative purposes. The office is accessible via Metrorail (Spring Hill Metro Station) and multiple bus lines.
