Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week, exempt

About W+A’s TDM + Mobility Management Team

The TDM + Mobility Management at Wells + Associates empowers our partners to create connected communities and enjoyable experiences. We deliver creative, human-centered solutions to transportation issues faced by the real estate community, leveraging behavioral science, data insights, storytelling, emerging technology, and trends. Our team comprises seven experienced staff members, each with expertise in project management, marketing, communications, event planning, data analysis, TDM, business development, and client engagement. We manage an active portfolio of 100+ clients, which includes commercial real estate developers, property managers, educational institutions, large employers, and local and federal government agencies. As an employee-owned company, team members are motivated by a common goal and dedicated to the company’s success.

Position Summary

This position is a vital member of the TDM + Mobility Management team. The primary function of the Associate role is to support W+A’s TDM + Mobility Management project portfolio with content writing, event support, presentation and/or report preparation, data entry and review, and customer service. This role supports the implementation and evaluation of strategies that shift travel behavior and assists residents and employees across multifamily communities, commercial properties, mixed-use developments, educational institutions, and other clients in forming sustainable transportation habits that reduce vehicle trips and increase use of micromobility, shuttle services, public transit, carpool, biking, and walking. This role will work closely with project managers, coordinators, and consultants to understand project goals and plan and execute digital and print marketing promotions and events as well as manage related customer or client follow-up, data, and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in individual and team brainstorm sessions to develop and refine content ideas and strategy
  • Research site-specific transportation options and amenities as well as local and regional transit and transportation news, updates, events, and promotions
  • Develop content for email, flyers, websites, social media, and other channels
  • Plan events at client sites, including vendor coordination, giveaway and incentive purchases, audience engagement activations or activities, material preparation, and event promotion
  • Host events at client sites, including set-up, audience engagement and outreach, and breakdown
  • Support promotions and campaigns, including planning, content development, team and vendor coordination, incentives, and reporting
  • Input data into proprietary database, including client or customer information, event or incentive data, client compliance and activity data, and survey or trip count data
  • Prepare, export, and format reports for consumption by project manager, client, and local Department of Transportation or other stakeholder
  • Manage project email inboxes and social media accounts, responding to inquiries or engaging with clients/customers as appropriate
  • Support client research, including background research, audience research, and review or interpretation of survey results
  • Support improvements to project-related channels (e.g. websites or social media pages), initiatives, and team processes
  • Attend client meetings as appropriate under direction from project manager
  • Assist Data and Research Analyst and/or traffic engineering staff with trip counts and related coordination as appropriate
  • Correspond with clients in-person, virtually, and over email
  • Support team organization, including file, material, incentive, and giveaway organization and inventory
  • Travel to client sites to deliver materials or incentives, attend events, meet with client, or conduct site research
  • Deliver project needs on time and prioritize tasks effectively

    Experience

    • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, Urban Planning, or related field
    • Previous experience working in an office environment
    • Demonstrated high touch customer service experience
    • Experience inputting information into a database, preferably CRM software
    • Experience with and interest in developing content for social media, email, print, or other channels
    • Interest and/or experience in planning and executing small- and large-scale events
    • Interest in one or more of W+A’s core competencies: project management, mobility and multimodal transportation, transportation behavior change, traffic planning and management, transportation research and evaluation
    • Interest in the commercial real estate industry and/or the interaction between transportation and land use
    • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects with competing deadlines
    • Effective communicator, able to communicate appropriately in-person, virtually, and in writing internally and externally with customers, clients, and with team members at all levels of the organization

    Advanced Skills

    • Previous experience with transportation demand management and human travel behavior
    • Previous experience creating reports and forms, designing and disseminating emails, and entering data in Salesforce and/or Pardot
    • Previous experience in a fast-paced office environment, such as a consulting firm or marketing agency
    • Previous outreach or events experience, including interacting and engaging with the public
    • Strong knowledge of local and regional transportation options within Northern Virginia and the greater Washington, DC region

      Physical Requirements

      • Must be able to travel regionally around the VA, DC, and MD area, including areas in Herndon, Reston, Chantilly, Tysons, and Alexandria using public transit and/or personal vehicle to deliver items to client sites (some locations are not accessible by Metrorail)
      • Must be able to lift and move or transport up to 50 pounds on occasion
      • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, up to four hours, on occasion
      • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time while operating standard office equipment (e.g. computer and keyboard)

      Location

      This position will be housed at Wells + Associates headquarters in Tysons, VA with frequent travel to client sites and occasional travel to other W+A offices. The TDM team is currently operating under a hybrid work schedule, which requires staff to be in the office 2-3 days per week for collaborative purposes. The office is accessible via Metrorail (Spring Hill Metro Station) and multiple bus lines.
