Wells + Associates Announces Appointment of New Company President

Michael J. Workosky to Lead New Generation at Transportation Consulting Firm

(Tysons, VA – October 18, 2016) – Wells + Associates (W+A), a national transportation consulting firm helping to modernize transportation networks, today announced that it has appointed a new President, Michael J. Workosky, to lead the company. Mr. Workosky is a veteran transportation executive at W+A with over 25 years of experience in transportation planning, engineering, and parking studies.  He succeeds Terence J. Miller, who will remain Chief Executive Officer.

“Mike has played an integral role in helping us serve clients across the U.S. on a wide range of transportation planning issues such as transit-oriented and mixed-use development. He is eminently qualified to guide the next generation of transportation professionals at Wells + Associates,” stated Terence Miller.

“I am both excited and honored to take on this role,” said Mr. Workosky. “From our headquarters in Tysons, the fastest-growing ‘edge city’ in the country, we have grown into one of the most well-respected companies in this arena. We have a dynamic group of over 50 professionals focused on meeting the needs of a mobile society and making a positive difference in cities, communities and neighborhoods in which we all live.”

Shift to New Leadership

Mr. Workosky’s appointment is a significant milestone in the employee-owned company’s shift to a new generation of leadership, and follows on the appointment of Melissa T. Hish as Executive Vice President of Operations and Christopher Turnbull and Robin L. Antonucci as Executive Vice Presidents. W+A will soon celebrate its 25th year of providing transportation solutions for commercial, residential, governmental, and institutional clients. W+A helps solve transportation challenges with a combination of traditional traffic engineering; transportation planning and design; parking design and management; sustainable transportation options such as transit, bicycling, and walking; and transportation demand management (TDM) solutions.

Michael Workosky is a registered Professional Transportation Planner (PTP), Traffic Operations Practitioner Specialist (TOPS), and Traffic Signal Operations Specialist (TSOS) and has extensive experience in addressing the needs of mixed use developments, town centers, shopping centers, transit-oriented design, and commercial, governmental, and academic properties. He is a member of many professional groups, has served on working groups, and is a long-time resident in the DC metro area, residing in Herndon, VA.

Planning for Modern Transportation Networks

Founding President Martin J. Wells, who is active on the Board of Directors, said, “It is gratifying to see how much W+A has grown over the years. To date, we have served public and private sector clients on over 7,000 transportation projects.”

In addition to the numerous traffic studies and transportation plans in the Tysons area, other notable projects include a comprehensive study for the Crescent Neighborhood in Columbia, Maryland; traffic, parking, and transportation demand studies for the Metropica mixed-use development in South Florida; and a notable TDM commuting alternatives plan for the Greater Valley Forge region outside Philadelphia.
