Traffic and Shared Parking Studies for Town Center Developer in Ohio

Wells + Associates was retained by Steiner & Associates as a traffic engineering consultant for their town center project in Columbus, Ohio. Our transportation engineering and planning team conducted traffic and shared parking studies at Easton Town Center, one of the first open-air shopping centers to incorporate indoor parking, town squares, and a mix of tenant types.  Wells + Associates prepared site traffic and shared parking assessments of the existing center and identified areas of parking shortages and traffic conflicts.  W+A also provided long-range planning services in anticipation of future development in the immediate vicinity of the site.

Easton Town Center is a super-regional shopping and entertainment center that attracts over 25 million visitors per year and provides over 1.8 million S.F. of retail, dining, and entertainment uses, and 136,000 S.F. of office space, situated in a main street environment with a large town square, urban streets, and public spaces.  It has become a vital component of the larger area surrounded by office and residential uses.

A total of over 6,000 surface and structured parking spaces are uniformly distributed around the perimeter of the site, like a traditional shopping center. Vehicular access is provided by Easton Loop, which circumscribes the site. “Teaser” curb parking is provided on both sides of relatively narrow east-west and north-south streets within the town center. A circulator trolley is provided that shuttles patrons to various parts of the development along with a dedicated bike share program.
