Emilio Tognelli

Emilio Tognelli is an associate transportation planner in the transportation practice in Wells + Associates’ Tysons office, mainly focusing on projects in the Washington, DC metropolitan region, including Virginia and Maryland. These range from new developments to projects that involve changes to existing land uses, comprehensive plans, zoning or vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle systems.

As part of his coursework at university, Emilio completed an Urban Affairs & Policy Capstone focused on a walkable infrastructure assessment framework and was a member of the Public and Urban Affairs Society. His coursework included studies of the legal foundations of planning, urban infrastructure planning, statistics for social sciences, land use and environmental regulations, and policy implementation. He has experience with ArcGIS, statistical analysis, data collection, community outreach, spatial design, and project management.

Favorite vacation spot?
Lake Huron in Michigan. It’s the perfect escape from the summer heat of the DMV.
Plane, train, car, or bike?
Train! Amtrak is great, but we could learn a little from the Europeans.
Describe your ideal weekend.
Going to a concert in DC on Saturday night and a hike on Sunday morning.
Make and model of your first car?
Still on my first car, a 2010 Toyota Yaris!
Favorite place to travel?
The National Parks. It’s great to be able to camp in the parks and have easy access to hikes.
Favorite subject in school?
I went to a unique high school, so I got to take television production, graphic design and culinary arts, which were all favorites.
