Transportation analyses in Fairfax County provide information to assist in the review of a land development applications. Specifically, a Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA) is required under conditions such as rezoning, proffer condition amendments, special exception applications, and special permit applications. These analyses help understand the transportation needs and impacts of development in relation to users and the surrounding community. 

Traffic Impact Analyses are to be submitted to the Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) at the same time that applications are filed with the Fairfax County Department of Planning and Zoning (DPZ).
