Parkinson’s disease is a long-term degenerative disorder of the central nervous system that mainly affects the motor system. Helping find a cure for Parkinson’s has been a cause near and dear to Wells + Associates’ founders Marty Wells and Terry Miller.
Since April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month, and with co-workers and friends who have been touched by this disease, Wells + Associates is committed to helping advance efforts to find a cure for Parkinson’s.
Painting for a Cure
One way we are trying to help out is by supporting Ron Czerniec, a gifted artist with Parkinson’s. Ron primarily paints with watercolors but also works in acrylics and other mediums.
Over a decade ago, Ron was enjoying his life as a financial officer at USA TODAY, a job he held for nearly a quarter century. He lived in fast-paced Northern Virginia with his wife and 2 children and occupied his time with travelling, coaching rec league basketball, and various community causes. Then, in 2006, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and began what he calls his “dance with Parkinson’s.” Ron now shares a condo in St Petersburg, Florida with his son and devotes a lot of his time to painting and writing.
In support of the Michael J. Fox Foundation’s mission to find a cure for Parkinson’s, Ron is selling a selection of his beautiful paintings for $200 each, with $100 of each sale going to the Foundation to support their research.
Wells + Associates has committed to match the first ten purchases of Ron’s paintings with a matching donation of $100 for each painting. In addition, W+A CEO Terence J. Miller is personally contributing $100 for each of the first five paintings that W+A employees purchase.
