Celebrating National Jelly Bean Day with our Transportation Clients

Celebrating National Jelly Bean Day with our Great Clients

National Jelly Bean Day is Saturday, April 22. Why does a transportation consultant care? There are a few good reasons:

  1. Like any transportation project worth it’s salt, or sugar, it takes time to get it right. It can take from 7 to 21 days to make a single jelly bean.
  2. Just like transportation networks that circle the globe, jelly beans do too, in a way. These days, enough jelly beans are eaten each year to circle the globe multiple times.
  3. The first jelly bean was created by an unknown American candy maker in the 19th century, just around the time that serious transportation networks started up across America, from macadam to railroads.
  4. Ok, so we don’t deal with Space in our work (yet), but Jelly Belly brand beans were the first jelly beans in Space when they were sent on the space shuttle in 1983.
  5. National Jelly Bean Day happens to coincide with Earth Day, making the day even better. First celebrated in 1970, there are Earth Day events in nearly 200 countries now. The day celebrates and encourages environmental protection. You can learn more about it at https://www.earthday.org/.

We are celebrating National Jelly Bean Day by honoring our clients on this fine day. (We had fun with this one – thanks to our clients and friends who entered to win a massive bag of jelly beans!)
